An explosion outside a court building in central Athens on the 30 December 2010 caused extensive damage to parked cars and the front of the building but no injuries because the authorities were able to evacuate the area after an anonymous warning was sent to a television station.

Police had arrested six people on terrorism charges in early December 2010, seizing explosives and arms in raids in Athens and other cities. Two of those arrested were suspected members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire or Conspiracy of Fire Nuclei.
