Fish stocks may be renewable, but unless they are managed properly they are also finite. This is why the EU’s new common fisheries policy has as its main goal to make fisheries environmentally, economically and socially sustainable. This booklet examines the different aspects of this policy, covering the state of stocks, fleets and employment, aquaculture production, trade, consumption and EU support.
