Fears mount over fiscal discipline under revised EU growth pact

Comments by Caio Koch-Weser, Germany's influential Deputy Finance Minister, on the EU's revised Stability and Growth Pact. Koch-Weser, newly re-elected chairman of the EU's Economic and Financial Committee - the body of leading officials which prepares monthly Ecofin Councils, voiced concerns that Europe's politicians were planning to use the relaxation of the pact to run looser fiscal policies.
