Date: 12/09/1996 Changes are under way in the Liikanen Cabinet. Antti Haavisto has moved in to replace the departing Päivi Luostarinen and will be dealing with various rural and green issues. Antti should be pretty well briefed, having been the Finnish farm union representative to Brussels during the accession negotiations and then agricultural attaché in the Finnish representation. He is also the son of the former Finnish farm union president who was appointed Finnish foreign minister in the run-up to Finland's difficult accession negotiations, where agriculture was a major sticking point. |
