Employment Commissioner Pádraig Flynn's chances of being nominated for a second term in the Breydel suffered a slight setback last weekend when he found himself at the centre of a juicy bribery scandal in his native Ireland.

During an appearance on a popular Irish television chat show, he floundered when tackled over allegations that he received a 'gift' of €63,000 from a prominent Irish property developer while he was serving as Ireland's environment minister in the late Eighties.
