Foreign Affairs Council – 09 February 2015

The Foreign Affairs Council held on 9 February 2015 a strategic discussion on European Union-Africa relations and continued reflection on how EU external action can contribute to the fight against terrorism.

EU Ministers focused on 3 topics:

+ security and stability
+ prosperity and economic development
+ partnership with African regional organisations

The Council was also scheduled to prepare the informal meeting of EU heads of state or government on 12 February, which would discuss the fight against terrorism.

EU ministers were also expected to discuss EU action to promote a peaceful solution to the crisis in Libya. Finally, they took stock of the situation in Yemen as well as of events in Iraq and Syria.
