Foreign banks look to EU for help on China

Foreign bankers in China are hoping that Pascal Lamy, the EU trade commissioner, will intervene on their behalf in a dispute with China's central bank over planned curbs on their activities. Mr Lamy is due to hold crucial talks, starting on 28.3.00, with the Chinese government in Beijing on China's accession to the World Trade Organisation.
