Summary:

Resolution from the European Parliament on foreign electoral interference and disinformation in national and European democratic processes.

Further information:

The Resolution argues that foreign interference in elections - by compromising citizens' right to participate in their country's government - is part of a broader strategy of hybrid warfare, and that addressing it remains a core security and foreign policy issue. It recalls that free and fair elections are at the heart of the democratic process and urges the institutions of the European Union and the Member States to take decisive action on this point.

This Resolution was adopted by the plenary session of the European Parliament on 10 October 2019 by 469 votes to 143, with 47 abstentions.
