Report of a FT interview with Finance Minister of France, François Baroin, February 2012. He said that France was determined to press ahead with a financial transaction tax (FTT) in France inspired by the UK’s stamp duty and supported by at least eight other eurozone countries.

Mr Baroin said he hoped the French initiative would put pressure on the European Commission to accelerate the implementation of a controversial Europe-wide FTT which is staunchly opposed by the UK.
