French court approves use of Sarkozy wiretaps in corruption case

A French court ruled on the 7 May 2015 that wire-tapped conversations between ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy and his lawyer can be used as evidence in an ongoing corruption investigation.

The decision was seen as a blow for the centre-right leader, who was likely to bid again for the presidency in 2017.
