Moldova’s acting president dissolved parliament and called fresh elections in a bid to end a political stalemate that has plagued the former Soviet republic for more than a year.

The decree signed by Mihai Ghimpu on the 28 September 2010 sets the stage for a general election on the 28 November 2010 that will pit the ruling Alliance for European Integration against the opposition Communist Party.
