Fresh moves to head off Gibraltar dispute

Britain held talks with Spain, 3 August 2004, in an effort to cool a fresh diplomatic spat over Gibraltar ahead of the territory's tricentenary celebrations on 4 August 2004. But it has warned that Madrid's criticism of UK Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon's attendance has put back the chances of a deal over The Rock.
