Abstract:
This article aims to present some of the Court's latest steps towards achieving convergence among the market freedoms. Its point of departure is a number of recent judgments in which some of the fundamentals of the law on the free movement of goods have been revisited. The article explains what are the changes introduced by these judgments and argues that the common thread that unites them is an underlying desire to achieve convergence among the market freedoms. This move towards convergence is part and parcel of the broader developments which have taken place in the context of Union citizenship and, in particular, of the re-conceptualisation of the market freedoms as economic rights to which all Union citizens are entitled.
