Gas deal seals Moscow-Berlin entente

Reports of meeting between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Dmitry Medvede, St Petersburg, 2 October 2008. Despite the tensions in Europe following the conflict between Georgia and Russia during August 2008 the two countries moved to restore close bilateral relations by endorsing a significant gas exploration deal between two of the countries’ key energy players.
