General Affairs Council, 26 June 2012

A meeting of the General Affairs Council took place on 26 June 2012. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Decision to open accession negotiations with Montenegro;

+ Second partial agreement on a general approach on further elements of the cohesion policy legislative package for 2014-2020;

+ Discussion on a revised version of the negotiating box for the EU's multiannual financial framework for 2014-2020;

+ Preparations for the European Council summit taking place on 28-29 June, including the approval of the draft country-specific recommendations (CSR) in the context of the European Semester;

+ Decision to approve the extension of the geographical scope of operations of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD);

+ Adoption of a directive on control of major-accident hazards involving dangerous substances;

+ Endorsement of a draft regulation on bilateral investment treaties with third countries;

+ Agreement on a general approach regarding a draft regulation on tachograph used in road transport;

+ Adoption of conclusions relating to the review of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.
