General Affairs Council, Brussels, 31 January 2011

A meeting of the General Affairs Council was held in Brussels on 11 January 2011. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Exchange of views regarding the programme of the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union;

+ Information on the European Council which was held on 16-17 December 2010 and preparations for the following summit, taking place on 4 February 2011;

+ Information on the implementation of the European Semester for 2011, the first being implemented as part of the EU's reform on economic governance, and presentation of the Annual Growth Survey;

+ Briefing by the presidency of the Council of the European Union on plans regarding the integration of Roma population;

+ Presentation by the European Commission of a communication on the EU's strategy for the Danube region;

+ Adoption of a regulation strengthening the rights of bus and coach passengers;

+ Decision to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of okoumé plywood originating in China.
