Bidzina Ivanishvili, a billionaire businessman, was set to become Georgia’s new prime minister after his six party Georgian Drean coalition won the General Election in Georgia on the 1 October 2012. Mr Ivanishvili pledged to rebuild relations with Russia while also strengthening US ties, hours after toppling the party of western-backed president Mikheil Saakashvili in an electoral earthquake.
