According to German newspaper Bild on 27 November 2015, the guns used to underatke the terrorist attacks in Paris earlier in the month might have been nought from a dealer in Germany. Citing documents from German investigators, the newspaper reported that four Kalashnikovs had been ordered online from a Baden-Württemberg dealer. Two of the weapons were reportedly of Chinese origin, while the other two were Yugoslavian.

In a separate event, the police detained two suspects of planning a terrorist attack on German soil. The German government repeatedly emphasised in the wake of the Paris attacks that their country was also in the crosshairs of international terrorism, as the threat level remained high.
