German minister attacks banks over euro launch

The German Minister for Consumer Affairs, Renate Künast, has criticised German banks for allegedly planning to remain closed for private customers on 1 January 2001, a bank holiday and also the launch day for euro notes and coins, but to be open to assist business clients. She said that all bank customers should have the right to the same service.
