German move blazes trail for the Big Four

KPMG’s member firms in the U.K. and Germany have announced October 2006 a proposal to merge, taking advantage of the opportunity offered for the first time by the Eighth Directive. Once the shock of KPMG's Anglo-German merger passes rivals may treat it as a model.
