Germany's military launched on 5 April 2017 a new cyber defence unit, set to be 13,500 personnel strong by the Summer.

The 'cyber army' is aimed at fighting against digital attacks on networks and weapons systems. Some German lawmakers suggested the commando unit would focus on combatting Russian hacking.
