Germany seeks to block Google book deal

Article repprts that the German government became the first foreign administration on the 1 September 2009 to ask a US court to block a deal between Google and US authors and publishers about web access to old books, saying it would 'irrevocably' weaken global copyright law.

With concerns also mounting in France and Scandinavia, the European Commission has called a hearing on the topic for the 7 September 2009.
