Article reports that in his first interview since Wolfgang Schäuble was appointed Germany's new Finance Minister on the 24 October 2009, he cemented the new CDU-FDP coalition’s central message that boosting growth – not fixing the burgeoning budget deficit – would be its top priority. The new government will not start reining in public spending until Europe’s largest economy has safely emerged from the downturn.
