Guidance on Apps supporting the fight against COVID 19 pandemic in relation to data protection

Summary:

Communication published by the European Commission on 16 April 2020 relating to the development of new apps aimed at supporting the fight against coronavirus in what concerns data protection.

Further information:

This guidance aims to offer a framework to make sure citizens enjoy sufficient protection of their personal data and limitation of intrusiveness while using apps that may be developed in the framework of COVID-19 pandemic.

This Communication follows the publication of a Recommendation on a common EU approach relating to the use of mobile applications and mobile data, and it was put forward alongside a Document setting out an EU toolbox on contact tracing apps.
