Published by the EU Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium, this guide is the most up-to-date information source available for contacts with the European Parliament. This fifth edition of the publication gives the final results of the June 1999 elections to the European Parliament and describes the new balance of power among the political groups, the key figures to watch and full biographical details of all new and returning MEPs. The volume further introduces the newly elected President of the European Parliament, Nicole Fontaine and gives up-to-date details of the changes to the secretarial staff. Additionally, it explores the enhanced role assigned to the Parliament by the Amsterdam Treaty.
