Health services in the EEA

This briefing considers some of the most important issues relating to the health services in the European Economic Area (EEA). Part two of the paper describes briefly the most relevant legal provisions governing patient mobility and cross-border treatment and outline its potential impact on the member states' competences in the field of healthcare. Part three summarises the position taken by the Council, the initiatives taken by the Commission and the work done by the European Parliament in this field. Part four draws some conclusions.
