Hungary media law falls foul of Brussels

Article reports that Hungary was set to face demands from the European Commission to revise its controversial media law after the Commission said a preliminary examination of the text showed that parts of it were not in accordance with European law.

Neelie Kroes, Telecoms Commissioner, said on the 17 January 2011 that she had been in touch with the Hungarian authorities 'in order to raise specific points on which the media law does not appear at first sight to be satisfactory'.
