Icelandic paralysis sparks protests

Iceland faces fresh political turmoil after thousands of demonstrators took to the streets on the 4 October 2010 in the biggest protests on the second anniversary of the country’s banking crash in 2008.

Jóhanna Sigurdardóttir, prime minister, was struggling to hold together her centre-left coalition government amid intensifying public anger about the country’s economic plight.
