Immigrants refusing to work will be thrown out

The UK Government announced on 23 February 2004 that workers from the former communist countries of eastern Europe joining the European Union on 1 May 2004 will be welcome, but those refusing to get a job will be denied benefits for two years. The Government also plans to introduce a registration scheme for migrants.
