Informal ministerial meeting: Justice and Home Affairs, Tampere, Finland, 20-22 September 2006

The meeting discussed the concrete priorities of the Hague Programme in the spirit of the Tampere European Council held in 1999. Topics discussed included: the streamlining of civil legislation; the development of judicial cooperation in criminal matters; proposals for concrete measures to combat terrorism; initiatives on European solidarity in immigration, border control and asylum policies; the promotion of operational activity and multidisciplinary cooperation between law enforcement authorities and the development of the EU's integrated management system for external borders (the border management strategy); the reform of the Schengen Information System; decision-making in matters of police cooperation and judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
