The Ministers for Telecommunications and the Information Society proposed to the Barcelona European Council that new impetus be given to the Information Society in Europe. Spanish Minister Anna Birulés underscored the EU's firm intention to pay particular attention to developing the broad band, creating attractive content, promoting electronic administration and encouraging use of the Internet in the health and education sectors.
