The aim of the Seminar was to examine key issues and policy challenges in the development and application of innovations in road transport, both in individual Member countries and at a wider level and was intended to provide input to high-level Ministerial-industry discussions at the Forum 2010 on Transport and Innovation.

The International Transport Forum, which replaces the European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT), is an inter-governmental organisation linked to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
