Internet use in households and by individuals in 2012

A large majority of households and individuals uses the Internet today. It allows users to access information and services at any time and any place. Mobile internet usage has become popular with the emergence of new mobile devices such as smartphones or tablet computers, especially among young people. About 60% of the young EU27 population (aged 16-24 years) used the internet on the move.

This issue of Statistics in Focus provides an overview of the results from the 2012 Survey on ICT (information and communication technology) usage in households and by individuals and takes a closer look at the activities carried out by internet users.
