The rating agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P) cut Ireland’s long-term credit rating one notch to double A minus on the 25 August 2010, and placed a negative outlook on its debt because of worries over its economy.

The National Asset Management Agency (Nama), the Irish government's debt agency accused S&P of a 'flawed' analysis of the country’s debt position.
