Ireland’s gift to the rest of the European Union

Author argues that it is important for the EU to maintain the principle that each Member State should have be allowed to nominate at least one European Commissioner. Ireland's no vote in its referendum on the Treaty of Lisbon in June 2008 will allow this topic to be revisted.
