This paper looked at 2013 as a potential turning point for both United Nations (UN) peacekeeping and the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) two decades of armed conflicts. Both accustomed to negative reporting and daunting outlooks, they were similarly affected by a paradigm shift in international intervention that found its precedent in MONUSCO, the Mission des Nations Unies pour la Stabilisation du Congo. It is concerned with MONUSCO's Intervention Brigade and the Danger of Emerging Security Voids in eastern Congo.
