Italy's Prime Minister Romano Prodi has defended his foreign policy, including troop commitments to Afghanistan, ahead of a confidence vote in the Italian Senate on the 28 February 2007. However, experts still experts questioned the medium-term prospects for Italian political stability and economic reform of the coalition government under Romano Prodi. On 1 March 2007 Italy's opposition leader Silvio Berlusconi said his centre-right coalition will support Romano Prodi's government in a vote on Afghanistan. |
