Italy approves €25bn austerity package

Italy’s centre-right government secured final parliamentary approval of its €25bn austerity package on the 28 July 2010, giving Silvio Berlusconi breathing space to deal with corruption investigations involving close allies and rifts in his People of Liberty party.
