Justice and Home Affairs Council, 8-9 March 2018

Summary:

A meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council was held on 8-9 March 2018. The agenda included the following items:

• Exchange of views on cooperation with the Western Balkans region in the area of internal security and counter-terrorism, on the basis of a Communication published by the European Commission;
• Discussion on a set of proposals tabled by the Commission on interoperability between EU information systems;
• Discussion on how to tackle terrorist content online most effectively;
• Appointment of Catherine De Bolle as the new Executive Director of Europol;
• Adoption of general approach concerning the proposed Directive on combatting fraud on non-cash means of payment;
• Discussion on latest developments at international level concerning cross-border access to e-evidence;
• Update on the implementation of the Regulation establishing the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO).
