Kids’ best interests must come first in cross-border custody cases, urge MEPs

The European Parliament's plenary session backed on 28 April 2016 a non-binding resolution on protecting the rights of children in parental custody disputes and adoption decisions.

MEPs considered that children were the ones paying the price when a member states failed to cooperate and protect their best interests. They defended the creation of specialised chambers in EU countries' family courts to ensure transnational cases are processed faster.
