Kosovo’s central bank governor, Hashim Rexhepi, was arrested on the 23 July 2010 after his house and office were searched as part of European Union corruption investigations in the new Balkan state.

Mr Rexhepi is suspected of abuse of office, bribe-taking, tax evasion and money laundering, said Eulex, the EU-led police and justice mission in Kosovo. He has not yet been charged.
