Kyoto Protocol: major step towards preventing deaths from environmental hazards

The entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, February 2005, is a key opportunity for the protection of human health. It could not only help to prevent deaths related to climate change by reducing greenhouse-gas emissions but also prompt integrated action in other sectors, such as transport, thus reducing the large burden of associated disease.
