The Galician political institutions, like other Autonomous Communities have established diverse relationships with other regional entities based outside the state borders thus creating a paradiplomatic activity. Regardless of the actions directed towards the European continent (particularly those aimed at the European institutions), Latin America (in a special way to those countries where Galician migration has a specific gravity), Portugal, and in particular with its Northern Region, has captured, captures - and is likely to continue doing it-a considerable part of the efforts and resources of the Xunta de Galicia in this area. Concerted initiatives by the authorities on both sides of Miño have led to the so-called border cooperation. |
