La cooperación para el desarrollo de la UE en Guatemala 1997-2007: 10 años acompañando los acuerdos de paz

This research focuses primarily on the role and contribution of EU to support the implementation of the Peace Accords (PAs) in Guatemala. Based on that, is intended to answer to the following three questions: a) since the signing of PAs to the year of 2007, what has been the EU’s cooperation strategy for development in Guatemala? b) Has this cooperation strategy for development with respect to Guatemala changed over these 10 years? And c) To what extent has the EU worked to proceed with the implementation of the PAs?

To this end, the analysis is based on an extensive reading of secondary sources which framework refers to the EU’s cooperation policy for development, the Peace Accords, reports on the programs and projects between the EU and Guatemala. The result of this analysis would help to make a qualitative assessment of the EU cooperation in the country, which is exposed in three main sections.
