In June 2000 Environment Ministers reached political agreement on new measures to curb emissions to air from large combustion plants. The Common Position was formally adopted on Nov 9 2000 and has been published in the Official Journal (OJ C375, 28.12.2000, p 12). The Commission contracted IIASA (International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis) to estimate the effect of the requirements of the Common Position on future emissions from the large combustion plants in the Member States and in those Accession Candidates for which IIASA has LCP modelling data. The results of this exercise are described in this report. |
