Laimdota Straujuma, Latvia’s prime minister, resigned on 7 December 2015 after less than two years in the job, saying she was fed up with the infighting in her centre-right coalition.

Ms Straujuma, who had been in office since January 2014, told a news conference she was tired of political intrigues directed against her and said the country needed 'new ideas and new energy.'
