+ monitor developments analyse trends and address emerging issues;

Background information:

Blockchain technology is the best known distributed ledger technology. It avoids one centralised location and the need for intermediaries to perform transactions. Information stored on a blockchain is: shared; verifiable; public; accessible.

The European Commission launched on 1 February 2018 the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum, which was also granted the support of the European Parliament.
