Leading MEP runs for Bulgarian presidency

Ivailo Kalfin, MEP (Socialists & Democrats), deputy chair of the European Parliament's budget committee, has become the candidate of the main opposition Socialist Party in Bulgaria's presidential elections to be held on 23 October 2011, Dnevnik, EurActiv's partner in Bulgaria, reported.

Former EU Consumer Protection Commissioner Meglena Kuneva, had also announced her candidacy as an independent for the country's Presidency.
