Book abstract:

This book is the tangible result of two conferences organised as part of a joint research and academic co-operation programme between the Faculties of Law at the University of Silesia and the University of Leicester. It offers an insight into how a country seeking to join the European Union - in this case Poland - must bring its domestic law in line with EU law.

Following a first chapter which examines Poland's route to the European Union with special emphasis on environmental law, a number of other areas of law are also examined in detail such as public international law, intellectual and cultural property law. Certain issues of constitutional law, European law, social law, company law and legal education are also addressed.

This book will be useful to students of EU law and the European Union as its membership grows in the coming years by providing the reader with a broad coverage and a detailed examination of the key issues.

Paul Torremans is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Leicester.
