Abstract:

This study aims to assess the impact of Community law on the transformation of the legal status and the effect of decisions of international organisations in the domestic legal orders of selected EU Member Sates.

The work is organised over six chapters. Chapter one gives the background to the research. Chapter two examines the legal status of international treaties in the domestic legal order of selected Member Sates as well as in the European legal order. Chapter three looks at the domestic legal status of decisions of international organisations. Chapter four looks at judicial and quasi-judicial binding decisions of the WTO and European Court of Human Rights. The fifth chapter concentrates on the decisions adopted by the EU within the Second and Third Pillar policy areas and their implementation by Member States. Chapter six draws on the earlier chapters to present conclusions of the study.

The work will interest academics, practitioners and researchers engaged in international and European law.
